Every time I passed through the
service road I blamed and blabbered abuses to the authorities for not giving us
a smooth ride. The bumpy and muddy extension was a small side lane which would
lead me to another fractured and distorted by lane of a road towards my daily commute.
I often took this route while running errands of the day. One shiny bright morning
I see all the rubbles cleared and a heavy thudding of road rollers dumping debris.
Ahha!! Alas the road is going to have a makeover.
I continued my drive with a cheer but
my psyche tried to dwell at the echoes of twittering birds that I usually met
on my way through this shanty path. No sign of a single little soul? No view of
those swaying colorful trees? No flocking swarm of fishing birds in the small
stream that ran nearby? They were all gone. This place was home to a little marvel
that ruled the water hole and trees surrounded. Flashes of those fruit and
flower bearing trees also made way in these thoughts. A small world in this big
concrete world was secretly nurturing hundreds of local birds and creeping animals
which had vanished into thin air. The mean self within me was trying hard not be
a part of this disaster in return of the demand to have just a smooth ride.
Everyday we are killing such small
wonders of nature and building ourselves a habitat. Deforestation for
development brings along death to these little wonder spots and the creatures
depending on them are becoming extinct. Fighting a war for my rights was my
need but in return I took the blame of killing a few birds’ nests too. How very
significantly convenient it is!!!
